Miami area guide

Miami is a really big city, covering an impressive 92.4 square kilometres, with 470,914 inhabitants and a density of 5,096.47 inhabitants/sq km. Divided into several areas, Downtown Miami represents the heart of the city. From here, to better orientate oneself, the streets in an east-west direction are called Street, those in a north-south direction Avenue.

The different quarters of Miami are divided into districts. The districts of most interest for tourist purposes are in District II, where Downtown Miami and Brickell, Coconut Grove and Coral Globes are also located.

Key Biscayne, Sunny Isles Beach and the Miami Beach area (with South Beach, Mid Beach and North Beach) are not part of the administrative districts of Miami, they are in fact autonomous municipalities but belong to the metropolitan city of Miami.

Areas to avoid: the more suburban districts, such as Overtown, Liberty City, Carol City, Little Haiti and Opa Loka. In addition, it is also recommended to avoid certain areas of Little Havana during the evening.

South Beach (Miami Beach)

Different types of accommodation and all imaginable amenities: South Beach is definitely the best neighbourhood to stay in in Miami Beach and, consequently, also one of the most expensive in all of Miami!

It really is a neighbourhood for everyone: for those who are looking for unbridled nightlife, thanks to the many clubs present, for those who want to enjoy the great beaches and have all the amenities at their fingertips, even for families with children, who can relax here on the beach or in the beautiful South Pointe Park or Lummus Park. If you are looking for a bit more tranquillity, we recommend avoiding the accommodations along Lincoln Road!

There is of course no shortage of discos and clubs where you can go out in the small hours, as well as wonderful beaches, especially in North Beach with less crowded beaches that are also ideal for families with children. Moreover, prices here are lower than in South Beach and it will be easier to find some deals!
