1. Malta Der kleine Fischerort Marsaxlokk auf MaltaThe small fishing village of Marsaxlokk with its colourful boats truly enchanted us

If you want to explore Malta off the beaten track and experience it in a truly unspoilt way, February is the perfect time to go. We experienced Malta with mild temperatures and without many tourists. It is really beautiful at this time and the top sights were not crowded at all.

Besides great attractions like the capital Valletta, the "Three Cities" Vittoriosa, Senglea & Cospicua, the port of Marsaxlokk, you will find a really great landscape on Malta, which is perfect for photos. The coastal region, but also the old towns with their fortresses are very impressive. No wonder the makers of Game of Thrones filmed many scenes in Malta.

We definitely recommend a trip to the neighbouring island of Gozo. We liked it even better than Malta. Everything here is even more pristine, less crowded and the landscape was absolutely fascinating. Malta is therefore one of the best destinations in Europe in February.

During the day, mild temperatures await you here, so you can even walk around in a T-shirt now and then. In the evening, however, you need a thick jacket. We did not go for a swim in the sea. However, the beaches are really beautiful even in winter and are worth a visit. For us, Malta is definitely a great destination in February to soak up a lot of sun. It is also suitable as a short trip in February.

2. malaga Aussichtspunkt MálagaThe view of Málaga in the evening. Isn't that just fantastically beautiful?

In our eyes, one of the most beautiful warm destinations in Europe in February is Málaga. The beautiful port city is located on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain. Here you will find the finest sandy beaches paired with great sights in Málaga.

The second largest city in Andalusia convinces us with sights such as the Castillo de Gibralfaro and the Alcazaba. But also the beautiful golden sandy beaches and the city centre with the Picasso Museum are definitely worth a visit.

Due to its mild climate, Málaga is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Iberian Peninsula. Especially in the winter months, the climate in the Mediterranean city is really mild. I can only confirm that. In mid-February it was 18 degrees. During the day you could walk around in shorts and a T-shirt, in the evening you needed long clothes, but often not even a jacket. If you're looking for your warm destination for February, you've come to the right place.

3. Lofoten

If winter in Germany is too wet and grey for you, how about a real winter in Norway? One of the most beautiful parts of Norway is the Lofoten Islands. The group of islands is located about 100 to 300 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle and impresses every visitor with its breathtaking landscape.

If you've always wanted to see snow-capped, rugged mountains combined with turquoise seas and Caribbean beaches, then head to Lofoten.

What's more, you can see the northern lights here in February. This is the most beautiful experience you can have. We've stayed out in the cold for hours and then just marvelled with our mouths open. Be sure to download an app that tells you the best time to see the aurora.

You can find out which sights you shouldn't miss in Lofoten in an extra article. In our eyes, the archipelago is definitely a spectacular destination in February that you won't soon forget. All tips on how to get to Lofoten and the most beautiful beaches are also worth a look.

Lapland 4

The second possibility to dive deep into winter is Lapland in Finland. Here, too, the aurora borealis await you as an absolute highlight. When the green Northern Lights dance in the sky and huge strands of colour move in front of you, you will be thrilled. This sight leaves you speechless and humbled.

Of course, a tour with sled dogs is a must in Lapland. Huskies pull your sledge as a large pack through an unbelievably deep snow-covered winter landscape.

If you want to take winter pictures, this is the perfect destination. Skiing, snowboarding, fat biking or quad biking through the deep snow? Lapland makes it possible.

Mexico is a popular destination in winter. Especially in February, many holidaymakers are drawn to the warm weather. Located between Central America and the USA, Mexico is not only known for the famous Mayan city of Chichen Itza, which is one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World. Of course, Mexico is also known for its dream beaches on the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.

Look forward to cities from the Spanish colonial era, palm beaches on the coast and a good mix of sightseeing and relaxation on your Mexico holiday. Find out which sights in Mexico you should see besides the Maya City, the Underwater Museum and Yucatan and the Yellow City in our extra article.

6. philippines

Diving with whale sharks is our dream. You can see these huge, beautiful animals in the Philippines in February. If you fancy a great snorkelling or diving experience, the island of Luzon, or more precisely Donsol, is the place to be.

February is the dry season in the Philippines, which means that nothing stands in the way of your beach holiday in February. Be sure to see the beautiful landscape of the 7000 islands. Be sure to see the most important sights such as Mount Hibok-Hibok, Cloud 9 in Siargao, Chocolate Hills in Bohol and the famous rice terraces in Northern Luzon.

7 Cambodia

No motif is more famous than the temples of Angkor in Cambodia. February is perfect for your visit to Southeast Asia. Cambodia is so exciting as a destination because you can expect warm, dry temperatures in February.

Besides the top sightseeing hotspot Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will find other highlights on the Gulf of Thailand. Cambodia's landscape is very diverse. Besides colourful lowlands, the Mekong Delta, mountains and a breathtaking coastline await you.

Another great photo motif is the Tonle Sap Lake. The largest lake in South Asia is known for its stilt houses and beautiful nature. However, when it gets too hot, the lake dries up. This also makes February the best time to travel. Nevertheless, Cambodia is still likely to be an insider's tip for February.

8. Singapore Die Supertrees in den Gardens by the BayOne of Singapore's most famous sights: the Supertrees in the Gardens by the Bay.

You can spend the whole year in Singapore. But this exotic destination also has a dry and rainy season. February is perfect for your trip to this small Southeast Asian country.

Singapore is an exciting, fast-paced and constantly changing city, full of charms and enticements and full of diverse people whose ancestors came from all parts of Asia just a few generations ago. In terms of tourism, Singapore has long since ceased to be a mere stopover city, where you only spend one or two days until you fly on to your next destination.

Singapore is absolutely diverse and suitable for families as well as adventurers. From top cultural sights, star gastronomy, the Formula 1 races, as a shopping destination or with exploration trips into the jungle, there is everything you can experience there.

At the famous Copacabana with its white sandy beaches you will experience the most beautiful beach holiday in February. The temperatures are also worthwhile for activities. For example, you can visit the giant statue of Christ or climb Mount Corcovado.

Tip: If you are an avid carnival fan but can't travel in February, then you should check out the carnival in Cologne, the Mainz Fastnacht or Fasching in Bavaria. This is also an absolute highlight with big street parades, lots of music and dancers. But it's the cheaper option.
